Weekend Recap

So, I must start out by saying that I am super proud of myself for getting in the hang of taking my new camera with me so I can take pictures of my Bubba so I can blog share this journey with him when he is older!!
Ok, so we all remember this....

So it was really freaking me out because, of course, SIDS and just something terribly wrong happening to my little Bubba!! He loves sleeping like this and I just didn't know what to do about the bumper pads because this is obviously hazardous but I was also worried about him whacking his head or getting his little limbs caught in his crib. However, I came to the realization that I would rather have my Bubba then not. So, the bumper pads were out!! However, the first morning after the pads were removed I wake up to find this....

UM!! Holy cripies I CANNOT have this either!! What if the circulation gets cut out of his legs? What if he gets them stuck and yanks them out of socket? To sum it up, I'm freakin' out about what to do about bumper pads, or no bumper pads, that is the question!! So, I do what I do almost always whenever I have a question about Bubba's many adventures....I babycenter.com it!! They have expert answers. Which, in case you are wondering, the experts say to remove when Jr. starts to pull himself up so that he does not use the bumper pad to stand on, usually between 8 to 10 months. Well we aren't there yet and we are having issues. So, I scroll down to the momma answers! I find a link for Breathable Bumper Pads on babysrus.com. The answer to my prayers!! Thank you Jesus!! Now, my little Bubba can get as close as he wants and he can still breathe fresh air because they are mesh--GENIUS!! So, Grani Jani and Aunti Lish were in Springfield Saturday when I found them online and went and scooped them up for me!!! So, when Bubba fell asleep later that night, I had peace of mind! Even when I found this...
Bubba went and stayed with Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Ed on Saturday while Momma was at work! He had such a good time!! He played with his toys, Grandma Nancy fed him cereal, they said he just lit up the house when he was there!!!
Bubba also got a new hat! It gets a little windy sometimes when we go on walks so I always try to keep a hat on to prevent ear aches! Well, he's a little hot box so his beanie was makin' him sweat and I could never get the cotton balls to stay in! So, went on down to the local DG and found this bad boy...

Friday night we went to Goodfield for dinner at the Busy Corner. Bubba, Daddy, Auntie Lish, Grani Jani, Grampi Tom, and myself all went to get the most amazing Tollhouse pie celebrate Grampi Tom's new job...Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at Praire Central!! Yeah, it was decided that since Bubba starts veggies this week, Grani Jani would let him sample some mashed up sweet taters. Definitely gagged on a stringy piece. Great, first time and he's gaggin'! Of course, freaked me out! So not ready for my little man to grow up!!!!

self portrait...dang glare ALWAYS

Grani Jani and Bubba on the way to dinner...

Took some naps this weekend...

Took a bath with his new bath toys that Auntie Lish got him while getting the amzing Breathable Bumper Pad...

Great Nanny bought Bubba a new outfit that came with this Peter Pan hat! Haha not really Peter Pan but I didn't have it pulled down all the way and even the top resemebled Peter Pan!

Don't have hardly any pictures of Momma and Bubba so I tried to take a couple self portraits...

I was makin' kissy faces at him and he'd smile so big. Figures, every time I would have the camera ready to snap a shot, he would look at the dang thing! He looks at it when I don't want him to and he doesn't when I do...I hope this is not an indication to our future :)

SITTING UP, KINDA, ALL BY HIMSELF FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!

It was FAMILY DAY on Sunday!!!! So Daddy came and played too!!

Crack me up!! Both making the same face...again!
Oh, how I love my family!!!

Why, oh why?!

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why does my little man feel the necessity to sleep like this now that he can roll over! Ok, on the belly is one thing, but on the belly with face inbetween bumper pad and mattress is a little excessive!!! Doesn't he know this FREAKS Momma out!!??!?!

Auntie Cass' 5th Birthday!!!

So like my little Bubba, my little sister, Cassie, is growing up SO fast. Her 5th birthday was yesterday, the 22nd!! We went to Papa Crabber and Mama Mel's for a cookout. Grandma Alica and Grandpa Byron came too!! Of course, Daddy and Uncle Hayden were there as well! It was nice out so we decided to sit out on the back porch while the men cooked the meat! Auntie Lish was helping Auntie Cass hold up Bubba ...
Grandma Alice was helping get Bubba to smile...

My precious baby boy!

Papa Crabber and Bubba with their matching ears! LOVE!!

Whoops! Found a birthday present a little early while going to get Brother/Uncle Hayden out of the garage...

Clothes, clothes, and more clothes...

Bubba trying to get his toy crab! And just moments after I snapped this photo, Bubba rolled back over for the first time ever!!!! Momma got a bit excited, I scared Daddy when I shrieked with excitement hahahaha!

Bubba and Papa Crabber...

Auntie Cass tryin' out her new bike! For some reason, she would try to pedal backwards, which was the break. So, she would go for a second then stop, go for a second then stop. It was kinda cute!

Then Auntie Cass wanted to show Grandma Alice and Auntie Lish how she can bat!

Momma was inside getting Bubba's bath ready...Auntie Cass wanted to help with bath time!

Auntie Cass washin' Bubba's belly!

Bubba watching Auntie Cass dance to her new Hannah Montana CD.

Bubba and Mama Mel and Auntie Lish...

Bubba and Auntie Cass. My little Bubba was sooo sleepy. As soon as I picked him up from saying all of his goodbyes, he was asleep right on my shoulder before we even walked out the door! All the excitement wore him out!!

New Stroller!!

So since Bubba is out of his first car seat, the one we got to lug around everywhere, and is now in his new car seat that stays in the car, little man transportation has needed some adjustments. It is not very easy to go shopping in a store and carry the youngster and all of your items in two hands. So, we got Bubba a new stroller, one that is small, light weight, and can be whipped in and out of the Denali with ease, aka an umbrella stroller! No worries, we are still going to use his big one for walks and such. We just got the new stoller to navigate in stores. It will also be easier at Wal-Mart, etc., since he cannot yet hold himself upright in a cart.
Sitting in it for the first time...not so sure about things...
Then once Momma went back and forth, back and forth a few times, we love it!!

Playing bib peek-a-boo with Auntie Lish while waiting for her oil change! And of course, trying to suck his thumb at the same time!! My little Bubba is definitely going to be a thumb sucker, and I think it's sooo cute!!

Such a happy baby!! Every time someone new would come into the waiting area, he would smile and talk at them and they loved him! Even the men in the shop were making goo goo faces!!! My little man lights up the world!!! His mother's pride and joy!

Daddy's Little Man

Ok so, we had a revelation in our household this past weekend. Daddy has, shall we say, distanced himself from helping out with Bubba. Like seriously, I don't even remember the last time he changed a diaper or got up with him in the morning, or even fed him a bottle! Even on family nights, it seems that there is just a huge disconnect between Daddy and us.
So, I get to work on Saturday and a friend is back from her maternity leave. We are chit chatting away and she says that her husband does things the complete opposite way that she, shall we say "suggests" as new moms, and maybe all moms do, when it comes to caring for the little one. She said he does this to make her mad. Holy, light bulb!!! Many of times when Daddy is doing things with Jaxin I, I don't know, I guess it is making suggestions because it works for me. He would then make comments about how I always say things when he's doing things with Jaxin about not doing it right or wrong, etc. Sweet mother of pearl, I have totally trampled on Daddy's self esteem when it comes to caring for Jaxin that it is now to the point that he doesn't feel comfortable doing anything with him!
Ok, so, to all of you Daddy's out there that think your woman doesn't think you do things right...let me put it to you this way. Ya know when you are watching TV and there is a sweet baby cub playing in the forrest. Then, some other animal comes along and DA-DAT! WHOMP! WHOMP! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Out of nowhere, comes Momma Bear. Well, just like the Momma Bear protects her Cub, we Momma Bears are the same way. I'm not saying that we are going to attack and bite you if you come close, but we are very protective and it is nothing more than protecting the bun that we carried in our ovens for so long! Our comments are not to discourage or to have things "our way or no way" but to simply, make suggestions as how things could be done because that's how it works for us and we just want what is best for our baby to be safe and well taken care of.
So, I now make sure that Daddy is involved as much as possible. When he comes in during bath time, I let him do it. When we are on the floor playing, I saw "Daddy play with more" or "Daddy pick me up" so Daddy feels like he is a part of this amazing experience.
I am also going to put my foot down and enforce that Adam pick Jaxin up from Grani Jani's or come in from the garage when Auntie Lish is watching Jaxin while I'm at work. I don't get home till 9:30 or after which is way past Bubba's bed time. So, Daddy is now going to get Jaxin around 7 or so in order for him to spend more quality time with his son, just the two of them. So, he will do bath night, cereal, last bottle, and bed time all by themselves when Momma is at work!
So yesterday, Daddy had the day off and came in during cereal time. This is the first time that Daddy has fed Jaxin his cereal, and they both loved it!!
Daddy wasn't so sure at first...
It got a smidgen messy...just like what Momma does :)
But then they both got the hang of it and couldn't stop smiling at each other! Bubba seriously was smiling and trying to eat at the same time!

Hi Momma!
AWE! Melt a heart!! They way these two look at each other, you know they love each other dearly!

So then Daddy wanted to take Jaxin outside to sit on the new deck that he and some friends built this past weekend! Here they are, fixing Jaxin's jacket...

Both, with the same expression, lookin' at me like "What?!"
Awe, my two men who I love more than anything here on earth!
